Classic Rock lives on.

Client: BBC.

Creatives: Matt Heck and Damian Fitzgerald.

Role: Art direction, design, photography.

Part repositioning, part awareness push, this campaign gave Classic Rock 95.3 FM (Sydney) and 91.5 FM (Melbourne) a new way to say what fans already knew: Classic Rock Lives On.

The station is known for slipping rock trivia between songs, so we built the campaign around the strangest true stories in music history.

I went deep into vintage Rolling Stone magazines, tracking each story back to the exact year and month it broke. Then I rebuilt the design from scratch using fonts, layouts, ad styles and publishing quirks from that era. The result? Every piece felt completely unique.

I went full design and type nerd, but with purpose. It paid tribute to rock’s past, gave the brand a fresh voice, and reminded people why they still tune in.

I torched a lot of American flags for one of the executions, I found out afterwards that it’s actually very illegal. Good to know.
