I was recently asked by Dan Staudinger to create an identity for his brand.
We decided something simple and subtle was the way to go for his nick-name and brand name ‘STAUDY’.
Dan is a writer and always has his HB Pencil with him, so I used the letter ‘T’ to create a very subtle negative space designed pencil. I wanted to create something not yelly and minimal and have people take a second look when the notice the uniquely shaped letter with something small above it and say ‘Ahh’ its a pencil. With the execution (roll-out) I thought it would be nice to use embossing with no colour. This is to symbolise transparency as a writer coupled with a very clean simple aesthetic, although quite considered.
